Biography
All the guys in the line-up have a wealth of experience ('Old' in other words) in this type of vocal harmony group, and are able to faithfully reproduce all the old
favourites from those 'Golden Years'. Please allow us to introduce ourselves...
Dave
The Rulettes Band leader Dave is quite an accomplished
musician, performing in bands since 1962. He has been there done
that and got the tee-shirt many times over. Playing in many pro
outfits such as Mc Arthur Park ,The Symbols and Hotel California
to name but a few.
Dave very early on discovered his niche for the falsetto harmony vocal range, which is a much featured part of the 60’s & 70’s music.
His only real concession to the digital age is his Roland VG8 guitar & amp modelling pedal, which has done away with at least 6 guitars and all their tuning problems,
but kept the authentic sound.

Tony
Very much the baby of the band (not that his grandchildren
would notice). Having originally trained as a classical pianist,
Tony forged himself as a keyboard player and singer during a 10
year apprentiship in the late 70s with McArthur Park, of which Phil
and Dave were long time members.. He had a short spell with 'The
Four Pennies', and then finally joined forces with the current line
up of 'The Rulettes' in 1990. His passion for 'Barbershop' singing
linked with his own vocal ability and natural ear for harmony is
reflected in many of the great 60's & 70's songs performed by 'The
Rulettes'

Phil
The front-man of the band comes from a varied musical background. While his father was a revered pub-pianist, his mother
was a trained opera singer and was a cousin to the late Russ Conway. Phil turned full time to music after his other passion as a footballer with Bristol Rovers
was ended by a serious leg injury.
His early musical career was spent playing
the guitar with Western Union & later Johnny Car & The Cadillac’s,
until switching to bass when the line up in another top act Mc Arthur
Park changed. He has also worked in other pro outfits such as The
Symbols & Lyceum, but always seemed to drift back into ‘M.A.P’.
After a brief spell in retirement in 1990 he re-joined with some
of the old line up to form 'The Rulettes'

Bill
The consummate musician’s musician – he was a well known session drummer & percussionist at Abbey Road Studios in the 70’s - which eventually led to him becoming
a member of The Wurzels for 6 years, mainly spent on concert tours all around the World.
His chequered career has taken many turns,
manly due to his ability to read drum parts, commonly known as ‘Fly
Shit’ in the trade. He is also a classically trained pianist, with
a natural talent for vocal harmony and has now been a member of
The Rulettes since 1994.
